more | Navis Neptun 1/1250 Hindenburg LZ129 the ill fated German airship (L1)
Another excellent model from Navis Neptun!
At 803.8 feet in length and 135.1 feet in diameter, the German passenger airship Hindenburg (LZ-129) was the largest aircraft ever to fly. The commercial flights of Hindenburg, along with Graf Zeppelin, pioneered the first transatlantic air service. She carried hundreds of passengers and traveled thousands of miles before being destroyed in a tragic fire on May 6, 1937 at NAS Lakehurst.
These Navis airships are built in very small quantities and, although not cheap, will always be sought after collector's items! more.. | |

An excellent model of the R101, that crashed in France on 5th October 1930 during its very first voyage, killing 48 people. It was one of the worst airship disasters that, along with that of the Hindenberg, so coloured international public opinion of lighter-than-air craft that British employment of rigid airships was effectively ended. With thanks to Wikipedia!
