| > Wooden Ship Kits > Mantua & other Kits | Most wooden boat kits require skill and patience in assembly. Usually the easiest to build, some are supplied with either solid or plastic ABS hulls and masts and rig are the hardest part. The most usual form of construction is plank on frame and that requires the most patience and skill.
All the current models we supply are complete with fittings, although most will require glues and finishing tools.

Originally named “Anna Maria”, she was built in 1815 at the New York dockyards as a pilot boat. The “Achilles” spent much of her time as a fast mail boat. A plank on frame construction, the kit contains:- Building plans with general details English instructions, lost wax brass castings walnut or lime planking, wooden masts and spars, brass and walnut fittings, etched brass details, rigging cord and silk flag. All sheet ply sections are laser cut for accuracy.
