Launched in Kiel on 8.6.1937, the heavy cruiser 'Blücher' was put into service on 20.09.1939. Her maximum displacement was 18,200 tonnes. During the invasion of Norway the Blücher was out out of action in the Oslo Fjord on 8.4.1940 after heavy shell bombardment before being struck by two topedos.
