The largest sea rescue cruiser ever to enter service in Germany was christened 'Hermann Marwede' in the Summer of 2003!
One main and two auxiliary engines produce a total of 9,250 hp and propel the German Sea Rescue Service vessel to a top speed of over 46 kph. She carries a smaller 9,5 meter lifeboat by the name of 'Verena', within her hull and, with a draft of only one meter, she can be deployed in very shallow waters. With her 330 hp, 'Verena' achieves a top speed of 33 kph.
